Registrar

Your registrar is where your domain name lives. You registered it there, you renew it there, and your DNS settings usually live there too. Common ones for Australian businesses are Crazy Domains and VentraIP locally, or GoDaddy and Namecheap globally.

Why it matters: whoever holds the registrar login controls the domain. The most common mess I untangle is a domain sitting in an old web designer’s account. The business can’t move hosts, fix email, or renew without going through them.

What to do: make sure your domain is registered under your account, with your login. Not sure where it’s registered? A WHOIS lookup takes 30 seconds.
