Google Workspace

Workspace gives you you@yourbusiness.com.au running through Gmail’s familiar interface, with your files, calendar, and video calls under the same login. Nothing to install — you work from any browser, anywhere.

I set up both Workspace and Microsoft 365 regularly and genuinely don’t have a favourite. That said, most of my small business clients end up on Workspace. It’s faster to set up, simpler to manage, and does everything they need.

Two traps. First, the entry-level Starter plan covers most small businesses — don’t pay for higher tiers without a specific reason. Second, Workspace hands you the SPF and DKIM records during setup but doesn’t add them to your DNS for you. Someone still has to do that bit, or your emails start life in spam folders.
